Annually, We Benefit Children raises funds to purchase grocery store gift cards and/or fresh food to fill Thanksgiving baskets for families in need at various sites across greater Los Angeles. Due to the growing levels of food insecurity, which was made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic, WBC primarily provides families with grocery store gift cards to allow families in need to obtain the foods that will most benefit their specific needs and situations during the holiday season. Our members and supporters gather at our designated distribution sites to personally give out the gift cards and deliver a holiday message from WBC. Each grocery store gift card provides approximately ten meals worth of food. To date, we have delivered over 11,000 baskets and over 5,600 grocery store gift cards, which provided over 165,000 Thanksgiving meals.
